صراط ṣirāt̤ A s. f. A road. صراط المستقيم ṣirāt̤u- l-mustaḳīm, The right way, i. e. the Muhamma- dan religion. ¶ ṣurāt̤, A long sword.

صيد ṣaid A s. f. Game, prey, animal pursued, fished for, &c. hunting, chase. صيد افگن ṣaid- afgan or صيد فگن ṣaid-figan, Killer of game. صيد افگني ṣaid-afgan-ī, Killing of game. صيد انداز يا باز ṣaid-andāz or -bāz, A sportsman. صيد بند ṣaid-band, A taker or binder of game. صيد بندي ṣaid-band-ī, s. f. صم ṣumm A (from صمّ Ch. To contract, to ob- struct, to stop up) adj. Deaf. صمٌ بکم ṣummuṉ bukm, adj. Deaf and dumb.

صدور ṣudūr A s. plur. of صدر ṣadr, q. v.

صل عليٰ ṣall-aﻌlā A Blessed; very fine. See صليٰ الله عليه under صليٰ ṣallạ̄.

صيقل ṣaiḳal A (from صقل) s. m. 1. Polishing, polish, cleaning, furbishing. 2. The polishing instrument. صيقل کرنا ṣaiḳal karnā, To polish, furbish, burnish. صيقل گر ṣaiḳal-gar, A polisher, furbisher, burnisher, armourer. A.P. صيقلي ṣaiḳl-ī, adj. Polished.

صابون ṣābūn A s. m. Soap. (Hence Gr. *sa/pwn).

صبي ṣabī A (from Ch. To will, to desire, to love; the affections being strongest in youth) s. m. A youth. (Plur. صبيان).

صلوة ṣalāt A s. f. 1. Prayer, benediction. 2. Compassion or mercy of God.

صوم ṣaum A (Heb. ) 1. s. m. Fasting, a fast. 2. One who fasts. 3. A christian church. 4. adj. Silent. صوم صلوة ṣaum ṣalāt, s. f. Fasting and prayer.
