دکپال दिक् Region, and पाल Preserver dikpāl S. s. m. A guardian deity of one of the ten (दिश् dis) regions or points (of the com- pass: i. e. ब्रह्मा Brahmā, for upwards; अनंत Ananta, for downwards; इन्द्र Indra, for east; अग्नि Agni, for southeast; यम Yama, for south; नैर्ऋत Nairr̤ita, for southwest; वरुण Varuṇa, for west; वायु Vāyu or पवन Pa- vana, for northwest; कुवेर Kuvera, for north; ईशान Īsāna or शिव Siva, for northeast).

پس پال पशुपाल पशु An animal, and r. पाल Preserve pasu-pāl S. s. m. Cow-herd. P. S̱. پس پاکرنا pas-pā karnā, v. a. To repulse. P. S̱. پس پاهونا pas-pā honā, v. n. 1. To decline. 2. To fall in the rear, to slink behind, to re- treat, to flee, to desist from an attempt.

کرپال kirpāl कृपालु S̱. adj. Compassionate, liberal, obliging, kind, benevolent, propitious.

کپاري kapārī कपालिन् S̱. s. m. 1. A title of Siva, who carries a skull in his hand and a chain of skulls round his neck. 2. A cavesson. اردهہ کپاري ardh-kapārī (अर्द्धकपालीय) 1. Pain of half the head, Hemicrania. 2. An areca-nut having two kernels, or rather one of those kernels which are convex on one side and flat on the other, where it was in contact with its fellow. (These nuts, from the doctrine of signatures, are said to be a remedy for the He- micrania).

گوپال गोपाल गो A cow, or the earth, and पाल Who protects go-pāl S. s. m. 1. A cow- herd. 2. One of the names of Kr̤ish̤ṇa.
