تخفيف taḵẖfīf A (inf. ii. of خّف) s. f. 1. Ma- king light, alleviating. 2. Despising. 3. Ab- breviating. 4. Alleviation, abatement, relief, remission, abridgment, mitigation, palliation, extenuation, decrease, diminution, decay. 5. Softening the pronunciation of letters, or changing one for another euphoniæ gratia. تخفيف تصديع taḵẖfīf-i-taṣdīﻌ, 1. Banishing care. 2. Relieving pain or trouble. تخفيف دينا taḵẖfīf- denā, To alleviate, assuage, &c. تخفيف کرنا taḵẖfīf karnā, To extenuate, mitigate, allay, remit.

تدفين tadfīn A (inf. ii. of دفن) s. f. Burial, interment, funeral.

تصفيه taṣfiya A (inf. ii. of صفا) s. m. 1. Purifying (particularly, the mind from ill will), purifica- tion, purgation, purity. 2. Reconciling, reconciliation.

توفيق taufīḳ A (inf. ii. of وفق) s. f. The com- pletion of oneʼs wishes, the divine grace, the favour of God, prosperity. (Plur. توفيقات tau- fīḳāt).

تکفين takfīn A (inf. ii. of کفن) s. f. Putting on the winding sheet, laying in the coffin, &c. shrouding, sepulture. تکفين کرنا takfīn karna, To shroud, to coffin.

خفيف ḵẖafīf A (from خفّت) adj. Light, of no weight or consequence, of light character, im- moral, undignified. خفيف هونا ḵẖafīf honā, To be vilified, to be spoken ill of, to be put to shame, to be ashamed. خفيفي دايره ḵẖafīfī dāʼịra, The centre of a circle: Hunter.

خفيه ḵẖufya A (from خفا) 1. adj. Disguised, concealed. 2. (Also خفيتا ḵẖufyataṉ) adv. Secretly. خفيه نويس ḵẖufya-nawīs, s. m. One whose business is to write intelligence secretly; intelligencer, informer. خفيه نويسي ḵẖufya-na- wīs-ī, s. f. Secret intelligence writing.

دفينه dafīna A s. m. Buried or hidden treasure, hoard.

دلفين dulfīn G. (Gr. *delfi ) s. f. A dolphin.

رفيق rafīḳ A (from رفق See رفاقت) s. m. f. A friend, ally, associate, companion, comrade, ac- complice, adherent. (Pers. plur. رفيقان).

سفينه safīna A (Heb. from سفن Heb. To cover, &c.) s. m. 1. A ship, a vessel, boat. 2. A blank book, a commonplace-book.

سفيه safīh A (from سفه) adj. Foolish, stupid, ignorant.

شفيق shafīḳ A (from شفق) adj. 1. Merciful, compassionate. 2. Affectionate, kind; friend.

صوفيه ṣūfīya A s. The ṣūfīs or sect of ṣūfīs.
