جلساخطيبي jalsā-ḵẖat̤ībī A. s. f. The sitting down of the ḵẖat̤īb between the reading of the first and second ḵẖut̤ba.

خط ḵẖat̤t̤ A (Ch. To dig, to engrave) s. m. 1. A letter, epistle. 2. A line, lineament. 3. Writing, handwriting, chirography. 4. Mus- taches, beard, youthful beard or down on the face. (Plur. خط وط). خط استوا ḵẖat̤t̤-i-istiwā or خط اعتدال ḵẖat̤t̤-i-iﻌtidāl, The equator. خط آنا يا نکلنا ḵẖat̤t̤-ānā or -nikalnā, To appear (the beard). خط بنانا يا بنوانا ḵẖat̤t̤-banānā or -ban- wānā, To shave the beard. خط جدي ḵẖat̤t̤-i-jadī, The tropick of Capricorn. خط سرطان ḵẖat̤t̤-i-sarat̤ān, The tropick of Cancer. خط شعاعي ḵẖat̤t̤-i-shuʼāﻌ-īﻌ, A ray of the sun; also, the name of a kind of writing. خط عمود ḵẖat̤t̤-i-aﻌmūd, A perpendicular line. خط کتابت ḵẖat̤t̤- -i-kitābat, Correspondence. خط گلذار ḵẖat̤t̤-i-gulẕār, A kind of flourished hand writing. خط متوازي ḵẖat̤t̤-i-mutawāzī, A parallel line. خط مستدير ḵẖat̤t̤-ī-mustadīr, A circular line.

خطا ḵẖat̤ā A (from خطي Heb. To err) s. f. A mistake, errour, fault, crime. خطا بخش ḵẖat̤ā-baḵẖsh, A forgiver of errours, &c. خطا کرنا ḵẖat̤ā karnā, To err, miss, blunder. ¶ ḵẖat̤ā, n. prop. A part of Tartary, or northern China.

خطائي ḵẖat̤ā-ī A adj. Of Khat̤ā or northern China.

خطاب ḵẖit̤āb A (from خطب) s. m. 1. A title. 2. Conversation, speech, address. خطاب کرنا ḵẖitāb karnā, To address, to accost.

خطابت ḵẖit̤ābat A s. f. Preaching, eloquence, rhetorick.

خطاط ḵẖat̤t̤āt̤ A adj. superl. (from خطّ ḵẖat̤t̤) used substantively, A good writer, a penman.

خطب ḵẖat̤b A s. m. 1. Marrying, betrothing, contracting a marriage. 2. A thing, cause, work.

خطبه ḵẖut̤ba A s. m. A sermon or oration de- livered after divine service every Friday, in which the preacher blesses Muhammad, his successours, and the reigning sovereign.

خطر ḵẖat̤ar A s. m. 1. Recollection, coming into the mind, thought, remembrance. 2. Danger, risk, fortune. خطرناک ḵẖat̤ar-nāk, adj. Fright- ful, dangerous, hazardous. خطرناکي ḵẖat̤ar- nāk-ī, s. f. Dangerousness. (Plur. خطرات).

خطرا ḵẖat̤rā A. for خطره ḵẖat̤ra, q. v.

خطره ḵẖat̤ra A s. m. 1. Danger. 2. Fear, risk, venture. خطره رفع کرنا ḵẖat̤ra rafﻌ karnā, To ease nature. خطره نه کرنا ḵẖat̤ra na karnā, To make no bones of, to make no difficulty; not to fear or anticipate danger. خطريمين ڐالنا ḵẖat̤re meṅ ḍalnā, To endanger, risk, venture, expose to danger, hazard.

خطه ḵẖit̤t̤a A s. m. A region, country, territory, district.

خطور ḵẖut̤ūr A (from خطر) s. m. 1. Coming into the mind, recollection, remembrance. 2. Dignity.

خطوط ḵẖut̤ūt̤ A s. plur. of خط ḵẖat̤t̤, q. v.
