آب حرام āb-i-ḥarām P s. Wine: the tears of a person who weeps hypocritically and sorrowless.

احراق iḥrāḳ A (inf. iv. of حرق) s. m. Act of burning or setting on fire.

احرام iḥrām A (inf. iv. of حرم) s. m. Act of for- bidding or interdicting, putting on the pilgrimʼs habit at a certain distance from Mecca, determi- nation or resolution. (At a certain distance from Mecca, the pilgrims interdict themselves all worldly enjoyments, &c. There their reso- lution is fixed to complete the pilgrimage; and, hence, the word means the determination then formed). جامۀ احرام jāma-i-iḥrām, The gar- ment worn by pilgrims on entering Mecca.

تحرير taḥrīr A (inf. ii. of حرّ) s. f. 1. Writing correctly, writing, description. 2. Manumission. 3. adj. Written, dated. (Plur. تحارير taḥārīr). تحريراقليدس taḥrīr-i-uḳledas, Euclidʼs elements. تحريرکرنا taḥrīr karnā, To write, describe, re- cord. تحريرهونا taḥrīr honā, To be written, &c.

تحريص taḥrīṣ A (inf. ii. of حرص) s. f. Instiga- tion, stimulation. تحريص کرنا taḥrīṣ karnā, To stimulate, to entice, to allure.

تحريف taḥrīf A (inf. ii. of حرف) s. f. 1. Trans- position of words or letters; an anagram. 2. Sharpening and cutting the point of a pen obliquely.

تحريمه taḥrīma A (inf. ii. of حرم q. v.) s. m. The commencement of prayer (as, worldly thoughts are then forbidden).
