جهلجهلانا jhaljhalānā S̱. (from s. r. ज्वल Shine) v. n. 1. To glitter, to glare. 2. To be in a pas- sion. 3. To throb, to ache, to smart.

جامه jāma P s. m. A garment, robe, gown, vest. جامه خانه jāma-ḵẖāna, s. m. A wardrobe, a chest or sack for holding clothes. جامه داني jāma-dānī, s. f. Portmanteau. جامه زيب jā- ma-zeb, adj. Becoming oneʼs clothes. جامه وار jāma-wār, 1. adj. Fit to make clothes of, suffi- cient for a jāma. 2. s. m. A flowered sheet or shawl, a kind of chintz.

جنبش jumbish P (from جنبيدن) s. f. Motion, moving, agitation, shake, vibration, gesture.

جنگلي jangl-ī S̱. adj. f. and m. Wild, savage, barbarian, clown, boor. جنگلي بلي janglī-billī, s. f. A wild cat. جنگلي پياز janglī piyāz, Squills. جنگلي سنگهارا janglī singhārā, s. m. Hermodactyl. جنگلي کوا janglī kauwā, s. m. A raven.

جهوسي jhūsī H s. f. Name of a town near Ilāhā- bād.

جٿ jaṭ S̱. s. f. (जटा) Matted hair. جٿا دهاري जटाधारी jaṭā- dhārī, 1. adj. Whose hair is matted. 2. s. f. The cocks-comb flower, amaranth. (Celosia cristata).

جهانسا jhāṅsā H s. m. (dakh.) Eagerness, avidi- ty, inclination.

جلاد jallād A s. m. An executioner; (and, hence) cruel, hard-hearted (q. d. one who skins or flays, from جلد The skin). جلاد فلک jallād-i-falak, The planet Mars.

جلوت jalwat A s. f. See جلوه jalwa.
