جنگله jangala S (जंगल) s. m. A forest, a wood. جنگل بري jangal-burī, s. f. Act of clearing woodlands. جنگل پهرنا يا جانا jangal- phirnā, or -jānā (lit. To walk in or go to the wood) v. n. To ease oneʼs self.

جا jā P s. f. A place. جا بجا jā-ba-jā, adv. Every where. جانشين jā-nishīn, s. m. A lo- cum tenens, a deputy, a successor, a vicegerent. جانشيني jā-nishīn-ī, s. f. Sitting in the place; lieutenancy, succession.

جبلت jibillat A s. f. Essence, quality, disposi- tion, temperament, constitution, creation, form.

جهرمٿانا jhurmuṭānā H v. n. (dakh. i. q. پژمرده هونا) To be or become withered or faded, &c.

جوالامکهـ jwālā-mukh S̱. (from ज्वालामुखी A title of the goddess Devī) s. f. A volcano.

جان jānn A s. m. (collect. of جنّ) The race of genii or demons. (Pers. jān).

جن जिन jin S s. m. A deified saint, according to the heretical sects of Jin and Buddh.

جون joni S (योनि) s. m. Pudendum mulieris.

جـﮩد jahd A (vulg. jihd) s. m. Struggle, endea- vour, exertion, effort, diligence, care, applica- tion, assiduity, earnestness.
