پيشور peshaur P. s. m. Name of a city, properly پيشاور pesh-āwar, built by Akbar. The word im- ports "an advanced post," as it is the next town to the Afg̠ẖāns.

پجاري pujārī S̱. s. m. or adj. See پوجاري.

پهلاس phalās H s. m. A step, a stride.

پيڙو peṛū S̱. (from पेट) s. m. The belly below the navel, pubes.

پهينکنا phenknā क्षेपण S̱. v. a. To throw, to fling, to dart, to let fly (a hawk, &c. at game), to set off (a horse) at full speed, to gallop.

پسـﮩ‍ي pasʼhī H s. f. A kind of wild rice growing in shallow ponds.

پکڙانا pakṛānā H (caus. of پکڙنا) v. a. 1. To cause to be caught, seized or laid hold of. 2. To de- liver over, to give in charge, to hand. H.P. پکڙبندي pakaṛ-bandī, s. f. Objection: see گرفت girift.

پسانا pisānā S̱. (पेषण r. पिष Grind, reduce to powder) v. a. To reduce to meal, to grind.

پاپا pāpā H s. m. A weevil, an insect bred in rice. See h. پٿاري piṭārī.

پادها pādhā उपाध्याय S̱. s. m. A school- master.
