پيا piyā प्रिय S̱. 1. adj. Beloved. 2. s. m. A husband, a lover, a sweetheart.

پسمانده pas-mānda P part. Remaining behind; a remaining person, a surviver.

پهرت phurt S̱. or phurti (स्फूर्त्ति) s. f. Activity, quickness, alertness.

پروهت पुरोहित पुरस् Before, formerly, and हित Appointed, employed purohit S. or pro- hit, s. m. A family priest conducting all the ce- remonials and sacrifices of a house or family.

پرياگ प्रयाग prayāg S s. m. A celebrated place of pilgrimage, the confluence of the Ganges and Jamunā with the supposed subterraneous addi- tion of the Saraswatī; the modern Ilāhābād.

پٿا paṭā S̱. s. m. 1. (पट्टिश) A foil, a wooden scimitar for cudgelling with. پٿي باز paṭe-bāz, (1.) A fencer, a cudgeller. (2.) (met.) A co- quette, a wanton, a strumpet. پٿاکاٿنا paṭā kāṭ- nā, v. a. To discharge from service. ¶ 2. (पट्ट) A board on which Hindūs sit whilst eating their meals or performing religious cere- monies.

پهنسنا phaṅsnā S̱. (r. पश Bind, restrain) v. n. To be entangled, to stick, to be involved (in ca- lamity, &c.), to be ensnared, noosed or entrap- ped, to be caught. See پهسنا phasnā.

پيتم pītam प्रियतम S̱. adj. superl. Most be- loved; s. m. A lover, a sweetheart, a husband.

پريتني pretnī S̱. (from प्रेत) s. f. A female ghost, demon, or evil spirit. See پريت pret.
