پرست parast P part. (in compos.) Adorer, wor- shipper; devoted to, attentive to; as, آتش پرست ātash-parast, A worshipper of fire; a guebre of the sect of Abraham, Zoroaster or the Magi. بت پرست but-parast, An idolater, worshipper of idols. خداپرست ḵẖudā-parast, A wor- shipper of God. خودپرست ḵẖụd-parast, A worshipper or admirer of self; self-conceited.

پهيري والا pherī-wālā H s. m. A pedler.

پکدنڐي pakdaṅḍī S̱. s. f. (dakh.) See پگڐنڐي pag-ḍanḍī, under پگ. S̱.P. پکربندي pakar-band-ī, s. f. (dakh.) See دليل dalīl.

پلک palak P s. f. m. The eyelid; a moment. پلک دريا palak-daryā, s. m. Clouds. پلک مارنايامٿکانا pulak-mārnā or -maṭkānā, v. a. To wink. پلک لگنا palak lagnā, Twinkling of the eye, closing of the eyelids. پلک مين palak meṅ or پلک کي مارتي palak ke mārte, In the twinkling of an eye.

پچهنا pachhnā H s. m. 1. The act of scarifying (tattooing). 2. Inoculation. 3. A scarificator (name of an instrument).

پنياٴي punyāʼī S̱. (from पुण्य) s. f. 1. A vir- tuous action, performed (according to those who hold the doctrine of the metempsychosis) in one state of existence, the reward of which is received in a future transmigration. 2. Merit of an ancestor rewarded in his descendants.

پراوا pirāwā H s. (dakh.) See زراعت zirāʼaﻌt.

پدا piddā H s. m. Name of a bird. S. پدارتهـ पदार्थ (पद see under پد, and अर्थ Meaning, request) padārth, s. m. 1. Thing, substantial or material form of being; a rarity, a good, a blessing, a delicacy or exquisite food. 2. The meaning of a word. 3. A category or predicament in logick, of which seven are main- tained, viz. substance, quality, action, identity, variety, relation, and non existence.

پنڐا pinḍā पिंड S̱. s. m. 1. Body, person. 2. A lump of clay. 3. A bundle or ball of string, clew. 4. See پنڐ pinḍ, sign. 2.

پوپني popnī H s. f. 1. A wind instrument (of musick) made by children, of the seeds of mango and the leaves of the Borassus. 2. Any wind instrument. H.S̱. پوپهٿنا po-phaṭnā (see پوه poh) v. n. To dawn, to be break of day.
