پيمان paimān P s. m. A promise, agreement, confirmation, security, an oath, asseveration, convention, compact.

پرهيزگاري parhezgār-ī P s. f. Abstinence, control of the passions.

پسا pasā प्रसृत S̱. s. m. Two handfuls, as much as can be held in both hands open. See انجلا anjlā.

پربتيا parbat-iyā S̱. s. m. (from पर्वती Produc- tion of hills) A kind of pumpkin.

پهينا phenā S̱. (फेन) s. m. Foam, froth.

پرم परम param S adj. Best, most excellent, chief, principal, first, supreme. پرمارتهـ para- mārth (from ارتهـ Meaning, intention) s. m. The first pursuit, the best end, virtue, merit. پرمارتهي paramārth-ī, adj. Religious, seeking the best end, virtuous. پرمانند param-ānand, Great plea- sure. پرم پد param-pad, s. m. Heaven or beati- tude. پرم دهام param-dhām, s. m. Paradise. پرم گت param-gati, s. f. Eternal felicity, hea- venly bliss.

پهانج phāṅj S̱. s. (dakh.) Noose, snare, net: see پهندا phandā.

پس کش pas-kash P s. m. Recoil.

پهرتيلا phurt-īlā S̱. (from پهرت phurt) adj. Quick, nimble, active, smart, alert, expert. H.S̱. پهرجانا phir-jānā, v. n. 1. To return, to re- volt. 2. To be distorted. 3. To warp.

پاؤن pāʼoṅ S̱. Same as پانو pāṅw, q. v. or the plur. inflection (for پانوون). پاؤن پرتيشه مارلينا pāʼoṅ par tesha mār lenā, Of oneʼs self to spoil oneʼs own affair. پاؤن دهول pāʼoṅ dhūl, Misfortune: see آسيب āseb. S. پاون पावन (r. पू Purify) pāwan, adj. Pure, holy, sacred, purifying.
