پنچمين panchamīṅ S̱. s. f. The fifth day of the lunar fortnight.

پهر phurr H s. m. The noise of a bird, as a par- tridge or quail, suddenly taking wing; or of a small quantity of gunpowder exploding.

پهلوري phulaurī फुल्लवटी S̱. s. f. Bread or cake made of fruit and pulse, and fried in ghī or oil.

پلپلاهٿ pulpulāhaṭ H (from پلپلانا pulpulānā) s. f. 1. Fear. 2. The act of turning about a morsel in the mouth.

پردگي parda-gī P (from پرده) s. f. A modest chaste woman, one who is confined at home.

پنپناهٿ pinpināhaṭ H or panpanāhaṭ, s. f. The whizzing of an arrow or shot.

پوشنا poshnā S̱. v. a. See پوسنا posnā.

پي pī S̱. or piya (प्रिय) 1. adj. Beloved. 2. s. m. A lover, a sweetheart, a husband.

پنج panj P adj. 1. Five. (Sans. पंच). 2. Of seven years old (a horse). نئي پنج naye panj, Of five years old. ملي پنج male panj, Of ten years old. (These phrases are applied to horses only). پنجروزه panj-roza, The space of five days. پنج عيب شرعي panj-aﻌib-i-sharʼīﻌ. adj. Very vicious (possessed of five vices, i. e. 1. Robbery. 2. Adultery. 3. Gaming. 4. Drunk- enness. 5. Falsehood). پنج آيت panj-āyat, The five chapters of the ḳurʼān, which are read during the mourning of a Musalmān. پنج تن پاک panj tan-i-pāk, Five holy persons (i. e. 1. Muhammad. 2. Alī. 3. Fātima. 4. Hasan.

پينگ peng H 1. s. f. The exertion made by people in a swing, when two persons keep the swing in motion without assistance from by- standers. 2. s. m. The name of a bird (Gra- cula chattareah: Buch.).
