برهمچاري ब्रह्मचारी brahmachārī S s. m. A re- ligious student, a Brāhmaṇ from the time of his investiture with the sacerdotal thread till he becomes a householder, a person who continues with his spiritual teacher studying the Veda, a Panḍit learned in the Veda, an ascetick.

بادله bādla H s. m. Gold or silver thread or wire, brocade.

بيادها byādhā S̱. (व्याध) s. m. A hunter, a fowler.

بهور bhūr H s. f. 1. Charity given to poor people, alms. بهوربانٿنا bhūr bānṭnā, v. a. To give alms to a numerous assembly of the poor. 2. A spring, a fountain.

بچارت bichārat S̱. part. Reflecting, thinking.

بيع baiﻌ A s. f. (Buying and selling) Commerce, selling. بيع کرنا baiﻌ karnā, v. a. To sell. A. P. بيعانه baiʼāﻌna, s. m. Earnest money.

بن bin S̱. (विना) adv. Without, except, un- less, not. بن جاني bin-jāne, With- out knowing, unwittingly. بن داني پاني bin dāne pānī, Without eating and drinking. بن ماري شهيدهونا bin māre shahīd honā, or بن تيغ شهيدهونا bin teg̠ẖ shahīd honā, To be slain without a wound (are expressions applied to lovers). بن ماري توبه کرنا bin māre tauba karnā, To fear without a cause.

بتا batā H s. m. 1. A bamboo lath, a thin slip of bamboo. 2. An oblong stone on which pow- ders are levigated.

بهلسنا bhulasnā H v. n. To be singed or scorched.

بوريا boriyā P s. m. A mat.
