باد bād P (Sans. वात) s. f. Wind, air, breeze, gale. بادپيما bād-paimā, adj. 1. Swift, match ing the winds; a swift horse. 2. A worthless person who cares not what he says, an idle talker, a false speaker, one busied in useless labour. بادتند bād-i tund, A stormy wind. بادرفتار bād raftār, adj. Swift as the wind. بادسموم bād-i-samūm, s. f. A hot pestilential wind. بادسي بات کرنا bād se bāt karnā, To go very quickly, to be very swift. بادشرطه bād- i-shurt̤a, A fair wind, a favourable wind. بادصبا bād-i-ṣabā, s. f. The morning breeze, a zephyr, a refreshing gale. بادفرنگ bād-i-fa- rang, The pox. بادمخالف bād-i-muḵẖālif, s. f. A contrary wind. بادمراد bād-i-murād, s. f. A fair or favourable wind.

بهلکا bhalkā H s. m. 1. A gold patch fixed on the nose-ring. 2. A kind of bamboo. 3. Dawn of day.

بلا balā A s. f. Trial, calamity, misfortune, acci- dent, vengeance, evil, ill. بلازده balā-zada, adj. Overwhelmed with misfortune. بلاکش balā-kash, Afflicted, sufferer. بلاگردان balā-gardān, s. m. What averts evil; expiation, sacrifice. بلانصيب balā-naṣīb, adj. Unfortunate.

بجهانا bujhānā S̱. (caus. of بوجهنا) v. a. To ex- plain, to make to comprehend, to demonstrate, to push as with argument, to persuade, assure, instruct, signify, to cause to believe.

بنگي bang-ī P s. m. One who intoxicates himself with bang.

برکه birka A s. m. A pond, a well.

بوڙنا būṛnā H v. n. 1. To dive. 2. To be im- merged, to drown, to dip.

بزغاله buzg̠ẖāla P s. m. A kid.

بارج bārij S (वारिज comp. of वारि Water, and ज Born) s. m. A lotus. بارج نين bārij- nayan, adj. Having eyes like the flower of the lotus.

براورد bar-āwurd P s. f. Calculating, estimating, considering before hand what may be necessary for a feast, &c. براوردکرنا bar-āwurd karnā, 1. To strike out (of a muster roll). 2. To calcu- late, to estimate, to carry to account.
