اشکت अशक्त अ and r. शक Be able a- shakt S. adj. Powerless, unable.

آم بات ām-bāt आमवात S̱. s. m. A swel- ling which comes without pain, and goes off as easily without medicine; a windy tumour.

آواتي āwātī S̱. (from آنا To come, q. v.) s. f. Ap- proach, advance; the coming of an army, the approach of a friend; the season in which mer- chandise is expected.

آب دست āb-dast P s. m. Water for washing the hands; washing the hands; a masterlike work-man who imparts lustre to what he executes; a guiltless faḳīr. adj. Having pure hands.

اعتصام iﻌtiṣām A (inf. viii. of عصمت) s. m. Abstaining from sin or what is unlawful.

اتهان उत्थान ut-thān S s. Effort, rising up, manly exertion, battle, joy. उत्थान एकादशी utthān ekādasī, or देवठान devaṭhān, The eleventh of the sukl paksh̤ of Kārtik, when Vishnu awakes from sleep. (During the four months that he sleeps it is unlawful to marry).
