بزاز bazzāz A adj. (superl. of بز used substan- tively) A cloth-merchant, draper, mercer. A.P. بزازي bazzāz-ī, s. f. The business of a cloth merchant.

باقيات bāḳiyāt A s. plur. (of باقي) Remainders, balances, arrears.

بنياين banyāyan S̱. or banyāʼin, s. f. Wife of a بنيا (shopkeeper, &c.) q. v.

بهوسڙا bhosṛā H s. m. Vulva magna.

برهما ब्रह्मा brahmā S s. m. The Deity in the character of Creator, or matter personified. S. برهمانڐ ब्रह्मांड (ब्रह्म Brahm, and अंड an egg, to which the world is likened) brahmānḍ, s. m. 1. The globe, the world. (In creation there are said to have been innumerable Brah- mānḍas). 2. The top of the head.

بارو bārū H s. f. Gunpowder.

بير bair S (वैर) s. m. Enmity, hostility, ani- mosity, revenge. بيرلينا bair lenā, v. a. To re- venge.

بسم الله bismi-l-lāh A In the name of God, or بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم bismi-l-lāhi-r-rahmāni-r-raḥīm, In the name of God the most merciful. (An invocation generally used by Muhammadans at the beginning of all actions and works). بسم الله کرنا bismi-l-lāh karnā, To begin, to com- mence. بسم الله هوا bismi-l-lāh hūʼā, Said of a child who has just commenced learning to read. بن ban S (वन) s. f. A forest, a wood. بن جاترا ban-jātrā, s. f. The pilgrimage through the 84 forests of Braja. بن جهاڙنا ban-jhāṛnā or بن مارنا ban-mārnā or بن مجهاڙنا ban-majhāṛnā, To beat the forests. بن کنڐا ban-kanḍā or بن گونٿها ban-gonṭhā (Sans. वनगोविट्) Cow-dung found in the forests.

بدهوا विधवा bidhwā S or vidhavā, s. f. A wi- dow. (Lat. Vidua).
