ب ba P prep. (often prefixed to another word, but, when standing alone, written به) With, by, for, in, into, to, up to, on, upon. S̱. ب (ब) ba, may stand for برن (वरुण) baruṇ, The god of water. It may, also, denote Sun, ocean, or water.

بت but P s. m. An idol, image, statue; a be- loved object, a mistress. (Plur. بتان). بت پرست but-parast, An idolater. بت برستي but- parast-ī, s. f. Idolatry. بت تراش but-tarāsh, A sculptor, a carver of idols. بت تراشي but- tarāsh-ī, s. f. The art of a sculptor, sculpture, statuary. بتخانه but-ḵẖāna, s. m. An idol- temple.

برابر bar-ā-bar P adj. Abreast, even, level, plain, uniform, smooth, like, alike, up to, opposite, over against, equal, on a par, adequate, exact, accurate, straight. برابرآنا bar-ā-bar ānā, To overtake. برابرسرابر bar-ā-bar sarābar, adj. Equal, alike. برابرکرنا bar-ā-bar karnā, To smooth, compose, adjust, accord, assimilate, le- vel, match. برابرهونا bar-ā-bar honā, To termi- nate, allow, equal, suit, agree.

بهدرهونا bhadr honā S̱. v. n. To be clean or pu- rified by shaving oneʼs head and beard after mourning or in a holy place.

بڙنا baṛnā H v. n. To enter.

بيگانگي begāna-gī P s. f. Strangeness, the being foreign or not domestick.

بلکه balki P adv. Moreover, but, nay.

بسوي biswī S̱. (from विश्व) adj. Worldly, re- lating to the world.

باي گولا bāʼe golā S̱. s. m. See باوگولا bāʼo golā.

بندهاٴي bandhāʼī S̱. (from بندهانا) s. f. Bond, binding, fastening.
