بڙهوتر baṛhotar S̱. s. m. (from بڙهنا) Interest, profit, advantage.

بهوت भूत bhūt S s. m. 1. A demon, goblin, fiend, ghost, apparition. 2. The past, preterite tense. 3. An element. (The Hindūs reckon five elements: see پنچتتو pancha-tatwa). بهوت هونا bhūt honā, v. n. To be distracted with rage.

بکوٿنا bakoṭnā H v. a. To lacerate with the nails, to claw, to scratch.

بتها bithā व्यथा S̱. s. f. Pain, affliction, distress.

بخش baḵẖsh P 1. part. act. (from بخشيدن) in compos. Giving, imparting, bestowing, forgiving; giver, forgiver. 2. s. m. Share, portion, lot, forgiveness. بخش دينا baḵẖsh denā, To give, to bestow, to forgive. P.H. بخشانا baḵẖshānā (caus. of بخشنا) v. a. To cause to give, to procure pardon for another.

بانچنا bānchnā S̱. (वचनं Discourse) v. a. To read.

بـﮩسنا bihasnā विहसन S̱. v. n. To smile, to laugh.

بسواس biswās S (विश्वास) s. m. Trust, confi- dence, faith. بسواس گهات biswās-ghāt, s. f. Taking advantage of the confidence of others, treacherous friendship. بسواسگهاتي biswās-ghāt-ī, s. m. A treacherous friend, one who seeks to take advan- tage of the confidence placed in him.

بيان byān S̱. (from بيانا, q. v.) s. m, Birth, act of parturition. چاربيان گائي or چاربيان کي گائي A cow that has calved four times. ايک بيان جامک Having produced two calves at a birth.

بان پرستهـ वानप्रस्थ bānaprastha S s. m. One who retires from the world with his wife and family, and passes his life in devotion in the fo- rests; an anchoret or hermit. See آسرم.
