برجي burj-ī A. s. f. A small tower, a turret.

بترنا bitarnā S̱. (see بترن) v. a. To bestow.

بجهنا bujhnā H v. n. To be extinguished, to be put out, to be quenched (thirst), to be damped or dejected (the spirits, &c.).

بوم būm P s. m. 1. An owl. 2. Land, ground (Sans. भूमि).

بانچنا bānchnā S̱. (वचनं Discourse) v. a. To read.

بناسپتي banās-pattī वनस्यपत्र S̱. s. f. Forest leaves.

بروت burūt P s. f. Whiskers, mustaches.

بٿ پاڙ baṭ-pāṛ S̱. (باٿ Road, and پاڙنا To throw down) s. m. Highwayman, footpad, villain, cut-throat, assassin. S̱.H. بٿ پاڙي baṭ-pāṛ-ī, s. f. Highway-robbery. A. H. بٿخ baṭṭaḵẖ, s. f. See بطک bat̤-ak.

بهگت bhagat भक्त S̱. s. m. See بهکت bhakt. بهگت کهيلنا bhagat-khelnā, v. n. To act (a play), to imitate, to mimick. بهگت هونا bhagat-honā, v. n. To be initiated as a devotee, to be affi- liated to a religious order. (This is peculiar to the low tribes. The initiation consists in putting a necklace of beads round the neck, and marking a circle on the forehead. After which, the initiated person is bound to refrain from the use of spirituous liquors, flesh, &c.).
