بيساکهـ baisākh S (वैशाख) s. m. The first solar month of the Hindūs, the full moon of which is near विशाखा (four stars in Libra and Scorpio); April-May.

برهمچاري ब्रह्मचारी brahmachārī S s. m. A re- ligious student, a Brāhmaṇ from the time of his investiture with the sacerdotal thread till he becomes a householder, a person who continues with his spiritual teacher studying the Veda, a Panḍit learned in the Veda, an ascetick.

باورا bāʼorā S̱. adj. Mad, &c. See باولا bāʼolā.

بانک bānk S̱. (वंक r. वक Bend, curve) 1. s. m. A crook, curvature, bending. 2. A reach or turning of a river. 3. Fault, offence, wickedness. 4. s. f. A semicircular ornament worn on the arms. 5. A kind of dagger. 6. An exer- cise with the dagger. 7. A settee.

بودهنا bodhnā बोधन S̱. v. a. To wheedle.

بندوڙ bandoṛ S̱. (r. बंध Bind) s. f. A female slave.

بوڙيا būṛiyā H (from بوڙنا) s. m. A diver.

بهاٿهيال bhāṭhiyāl H adj. Down, below, down the river, with the stream. See بهٿهيال.

بهٿهيال bhaṭhiyāl H 1. adj. With the current, i. e. down the river and not with the flood tide. 2. s. m. A kind of مرثيه or elegiack verses sung in praise of Hasan and Husain.

بحثابحثي baḥs̤-ā-baḥs̤-ī A. s. f. Controversy, dis- cussion, argumentation. A.H. بحثنا baḥas̤nā (from بحث) v. a. To argue, dispute, debate, talk. P.A. بحدي ba-hadd-e, To such an extreme; to such a degree.
