بيجنتي مالا baijantī-mālā S̱. (वैजयंती see بيجنتي and माला Necklace) s. f. A necklace especially worn by Vish̤ṇu in his several forms, and com- posed of the following jewels, produced from the five elements of nature: namely, the sapphire, from the earth; the pearl, from water; the ruby, from fire; the topaz, from air; and, the dia- mond, from space or ether.

بسما basmā A. (Arab. وسمه) s. m. Staining (par- ticularly, the beard: or women staining the legs, so as to have the appearance of being dressed in tight drawers, when they are in fact naked).

بيدي bedī S (वेदी) s. f. An altar. See بيدکا.

بلونا bilonā S̱. or bilowanā (विलोडन) v. a. To churn.

باسکي bāsukī S (वासुकि) s. m. The chief of serpents, which is fabled to support the universe, and which was used as a string to whirl the mountain Mandar in churning the ocean for the amr̤it, &c.

بهوپال भूपाल भू Earth, and r. पाल Pre- serve bhūpāl S. s. m. A landlord, a king, a rājā.

بپتا biptā S̱. (विपत् or विपत्ति) s. f. Adversity, cala- mity, misfortune, distress.

بهيڙيا bheṛiyā भेड़हा S̱. s. m. A wolf. بهيڙيادهسان bheṛiyā dhasān, s. m. A multitude crowd- ed together like sheep in a pen, the act of fol- lowing the example of another.

بهرميلا bharm-īlā S̱. (from भ्रम) adj. Ambiguous, doubtful, confounded, scrupulous.

برکهاسن वर्षाशन वर्ष Year, and अशन Eating barkhāsan S. or varkh̤āsan, s. m. Yearly pay or subsistence.
