باندا bāndā वंदा S̱. s. m. A parasite plant which grows on trees. (Epidendrum, particu- larly tesselatum. Roxb.). S̱. P. باندار bān-dār, s. m. A rocket-thrower.

بولتا boltā H part. act. (from بولنا used substan- tively) The faculty of speech; soul, life.

بسم الله bismi-l-lāh A In the name of God, or بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم bismi-l-lāhi-r-rahmāni-r-raḥīm, In the name of God the most merciful. (An invocation generally used by Muhammadans at the beginning of all actions and works). بسم الله کرنا bismi-l-lāh karnā, To begin, to com- mence. بسم الله هوا bismi-l-lāh hūʼā, Said of a child who has just commenced learning to read. بانس bāṅs वंश S̱. s. m. 1. A bamboo. 2. A measure of about ten feet, used to measure tanks, ditches, and excavations in general. (A cube of one bāṅs is called a chaukā). بانس پرچڙهنا bāṅs par chaṛhnā, v. n. To be branded with infamy.

باصره bāṣira A part. act. (from بصر used substan- tively) Sight, the sense of seeing.

برابري bar-ā-bar-ī P s. f. Equality, exactness, emulation, rivalry, competition. برابري کرنا bar- ā-bar-ī karnā, To resist, oppose, vie, withstand, emulate, rival, equal.
