بيماتر baimātr S (वैमात्र) s. m. A brother born of a different mother by the same father.

بجهيل bujhail H (from بوجهـ Load) adj. 1. Laden. 2. Beast, &c. of burthen.

برده biruddha S (विरुद्ध) adj. Opposite, opposed to, contrary to, against.

بارا bārā S s. m. A boy: see بالا bālā. S̱.P. بارادري bārā-darī, s. f. A summer house. See باره دري bārah-dar-ī, under باره.

بيدوا bed-wā S̱. s. m. A reader of the Beds.

بايان bāyāṅ वाम S̱. adj. Left (hand, &c.). s. m. The bass part in musick, the bass sound (especially, of طبله t̤abla, ڐولک ḍholak and پکهاوج pakhāwaj, which are played on with the left hand). بايان پانوپوجنا bāyāṅ pāṅw pūj- nā, To acknowledge the cunning of an artful person.

بابني bābnī H s. f. A snakeʼs hole. See بانبهني.

بر ت barat S̱. 1. (or brat, for व्रत) s. m. A me- ritorious act, a fast, a vow, a religious rite or pe- nance. 2. (see برتنا) Use. 3. (for वरत्रा) s. f. A thong, leathern girth, rope: see s̱. برها barhā. 4. (h. pres. part. of برنا) Flaming, blazing.

بهيس bhes S̱. (वेष or वेश or भेष) s. m. Disguise, assumed likeness, counterfeit dress, semblance, guise, garb.

بانهـ bāṅh S (बाहु) s. f. 1. The arm. 2. Gua- rantee, protector or security (as, when a per- son trusts himself in the power of an enemy, a third person, who engages to return him to his house or fort in security, is his bāṅh). بانهـ پکڙنا bāṅh pakaṛnā, To protect. بانهـ ٿوٿنا bāṅh ṭūṭnā, To be destitute of friends or pro- tectors. بانهـ دينا bāṅh denā, To assist: see بازودينا bāzū denā. بانهـ گهنا bāṅh gahnā, To protect. بانهين چڙهانا bāṅheṅ chaṛhānā, To get ready, to prepare.
