هتهہ hath हस्त S̱. contract. of هاتهہ q. v. هتهہ بلي hath-bal-ī, s. f. Strength of hand, force; dis- honesty. هتهہ پهول hath-phūl, A kind of fire- work. هتهہ پهير hath-pher, 1. Sleight of hand (in a money changer), changing a good for a bad rupee for the purpose of imposition. 2. Borrowing. هتهہ پهيرلينا hath-pher lenā, To borrow. هتهہ جهولا hath-jholā, A hand-barrow. هتهہ چپوا hath-chapūʼā, Snack, share. هتهہ چهوٿ hath-chhūṭ, A beater. هتهکٿي hath-kaṭ-ī, Name of a cut with the sword, which is intended to take off or disable the adversaryʼs hand. هتهہ کڙي hath-kaṛī, s. f. A handcuff, fetter, ma- nacle. هتهہ ليوا hath-lewā, s. m. A ceremony in marriage among Hindūs. (The hands of the bride and bridegroom are joined palm to palm with some flour put between them, and tied with a red thread). هتهنال hath-nāl, s. f. A small cannon carried on elephants, &c.

هلکا halkā H adj. Light (in weight or character), debased, mean, silly, easy, soft, cheap. هلکاپن halkā-pan, s. m. Lightness, levity, vanity, des- picableness. هلکا جاننا halkā jānnā, To disdain, to disesteem. هلکا کرنا halkā karnā, To lighten, exonerate, to ease, assuage, debase, abase, de- preciate, affront.

هڐيلا haḍḍī-lā S̱. (from هڐي) adj. Bony.

همتاٴي hamtā-ī P s. f. Likeness, equality. A. H. همتوالا himmat-wālā, adj. High-minded, li- beral, brave. A. P. همتي himmat-ī, adj. Bold, daring.

هوشمندي hosh-mand-ī P s. f. Intelligence, under- standing.

هوژ hoṛ H s. f. A wager, an agreement, a bargain, a bet. هوڙباندهنا hoṛ bāndhnā, To bargain, &c. هوڙبدنا hoṛ badnā or (dakh.) هوڙبندنا hoṛ band- nā, To wager, bet, &c. هوڙلگانا hoṛ lagānā, v. a. 1. To wager. 2. To make an agreement. 3. v. n. To be positive, obstinate, or perverse. هوڙهارنا hoṛ hārnā, To lose a wager, &c. ¶ hūṛ, s. f. Wrangling.

هاتي hātī S̱. s. m. Elephant: see هاتهي.

هنڐي hanḍī S (for हंडी or हंडिका) s. f. A small earthen pot (for boiling meat, &c.).

هسلي haslī H s. m. 1. The collar-bone, clavicle. 2. A collar (of gold or silver, &c.) worn round the neck as an ornament.

هگنڐا haganḍā S̱. (from هگنا hagnā, q. v.) adj. Polluted with excrement.
