هنگامه hangāma P s. m. 1. An assembly, a crowd. 2. Tumult, uproar, riot, sedition, disturbance, disorder. 3. Assault. هنگامه آرا hangāma-ārā, adj. Exciting tumult. هنگامه کرنا hangāma karnā, To raise a disturbance, to riot. هنگامه گير hangāma-gīr, adj. Tumultuous, &c.

ه hā called هاي هوز hā-i-hawwaz and هاي مدوره hā-i-mudawwara, the twenty-seventh letter of the Arabic and thirty-first of the Persian alphabet, corresponds to ह in Sanskrit. It is one of the guttural letters, having the sound of the English h. When it occurs at the end of a word, it is either perceptible, which is called هاي ظاهريا جلي يا ملفوظي (hā-i-z̤āhir or -jalī, or -malfūz̤ī), as in بادشاه bādshāh, A king; or imperceptible مختفي يا مکتوبي (-muḵẖtafī or -maktūbī), as in بہانه bahāna, A pretence, به ba, With, &c. where it merely conveys the sound of fatʼḥa. In the formation of the plural with ها the هاي جلي of the singular is preserved;

همزه hamza A s. The orthographical mark (ٴ).

هنري hunar-ī P adj. Skilful, clever.

همه hama P adj. All, the whole, every one. همه دان hama-dān, Knowing every thing, expe- rienced, wise, all-wise, omniscient. همه داني hama-dān-ī, s. f. Omniscience.

هستا hastā S̱. (हस्त) s. m. Name of the 13th mansion of the moon. (Corvus).

هوانا ho-ānā S̱. v. n. To have gone to and returned.

هزار hazār P adj. Thousand. هزارپا hazār-pā, s. m. A scolopendra, a venomous reptile. هزارچشمه hazār-chashma, s. m. A cancer (disease). هزارداستان hazār-dāstān, A kind of nightin- gale. هزارگاٴيده يا ميخي hazār-gāʼīda or -meḵẖ-ī, A common strumpet, harridan.

هزليات hazliyāt A. s. plur. Jokes, jests, nonsen- sical talk, fiddle faddle.

هريا haryā S̱. adj. (dakh.) Green: see هرا harā. هريا کدو haryā kaddū (dakh.) Green pumpkin, or bottle gourd. (Cucurbita lagenaria: Lin.).
