هستي हस्ती hastī S s. m. An elephant.

هرنا harnā H s. m. A pommel (of a saddle). ¶ hurnā, v. a. To beat down (as paviers).

هوتا جاتا hotā jātā S̱. s. m. Coming and going. S̱. H. هوتا رهيگا hotā rahegā, An expression used in reply to terms of abuse; implying that "what "you have said of me is applicable to yourself." Mīr says:-- تويون گاليان غيرکوشوق سي دي همين کچهہ کہيگا توهوتا رهيگا Tū yoṅ gāliyāṅ g̠ẖair ko shauḳ se de; hameṅ kuchh kahegā to hotā rahegā, Give this abuse, if you please, to some other person; what you say of me will recoil on yourself.

To calumniate. هوا پرست hawā-parast, Vain, fickle, giddy, vola- tile. هوا پهرني hawā phirnī, To change condi- tion. هوا چهڙانا hawā chhuṛānā, To break wind. هوا خواه hawā-ḵẖẉāh, A friend, wellwisher, lover. هوا خواهي hawā-ḵẖẉāh-ī, s. f. Good-will, friendship. هوا حرص hawā-ḥirṣ, Covetousness, envy, greediness. هوا دار hawā-dār, 1. adj. Airy. 2. s. A lover. هوا داري hawā-dār-ī, s. f. Airiness. هوا دينا hawā-denā, To blow the coal, to foment a quarrel. هوا زدگي hawā-zada-gī, A disease so called, cold, catarrh. هوا سي بات کرنا hawā se bāt karnā, to rival the wind in speed. هوا سي لڙنا hawā se laṛnā (to quarrel with the wind) Implies a readiness to quarrel. هوا کرنا hawā karnā, 1. To fan. 2. To broach, to divulge, to disclose, to publish. هوا کهانا hawā khānā, 1. To take the air. 2. To walk about idly. هوا کي ببولي پهوڙنا hawā ke babūle phoṛnā. To build castles in the air. هوا گير hawā-gīr, A rocket- maker. هوا وهوس hawā-o-hawas, Lust, concu- piscence, sensuality, luxury, vanity, ambition. هوا هو جانا hawā ho jānā, To scamper off, to vanish, to disappear.

هانک hānk S̱. (from هانکنا) s. f. 1. Cry, call, bawling, calling to (loud). 2. Driving. هانک پکار hānk-pukār, s. f. Uproar, outcry. هانک مارنا hānk mārnā, To bawl after, to call to.

هلکان halkān A. (perhaps from هلاک) adj. Con- founded, confused, tired, wearied.

هرت हरित् harit S adj. Verdant. S. هرتا हत्ती (r. हृ Take by force, steal) hartā, s. m. A thief, a stealer, a taker away.
