نفع nafﻌ A s. m. Profit, gain, advantage, in- terest. نفع کرنا nafﻌ karnā, To profit, to benefit.

نہنہ nahanī S̱. s. f. 1. An instrument for cutting nails. See نہرني naharnī. 2. A kind of chisel used in polishing and turning brass, &c.

نيسان naisān P s. m. Name of the 7th Syrian month, corresponding to the Persian فروردين and Hindī بيساکهہ baisākh. ابرنيسان abr-i-naisān, or ابرنيساني abr-i-naisānī, 1. The vernal cloud or rain. 2. The rain which falls while the moon is in the mansion swāti; and of which, if it drops into a shell, pearls are formed; but which turns to poison, if it happens to fall into the mouth of a serpent. See سوات swāti.

ناٴيکه nāʼeka S̱. s. f. (dakh.) See نايکا nāyikā, sign. 2.

نوشتخواند nawisht-ḵẖẉānd P (from نوشتن To write, and خواندن To read) s. f. Epistolary correspondence, reading and writing.

نربس nir-bas S̱. adj. Powerless, enfeebled.

نيارا nyārā निरालय S̱. 1. adj. Apart, aloof, separate, distinct, different, extraordinary, un- common. 2. s. m. The scoria left after refining gold, silver, or other metals, from which a minute portion of those metals is obtainable. نياري nyāre, adv. Apart.

نکاس ni-kās निःकास S̱. s. m. 1. Skirts, suburbs, outer boundary of land attached to a town, &c. issue, outgoing, discharge, outlet, vent, source, origin, spring. 2. Adjustment of accounts, accomplishment.

نماشام nimāshām H s. (dakh. i. q. سرشام) Evening, early in the evening (?). نماشام اترنا ni- māshām utarnā (met. i. q. سياه روهونا) To have the face black, to be disgraced (?).
