نگـﮩباني nigah-bān-ī P s. f. Watching, guarding, taking care of, custody.

نزول nuzūl A (inf. from نزل) s. m. 1. Descent, alighting, sojourning. 2. A cataract (in the eye). نزول آب nuzūl-i-āb, A swelling of the testicle, which (excepting the case of a blow, or of hernia) is universally ascribed to the descent of water: the term, therefore, comprehends hy- drocele, hernia humoralis, and scirrhus.

ناحيه nāḥiya A (from نحو Heb. ) s. m. Territory,

ناک nāk नासिका S̱. s. f. The nose. ناک چڙهانا nāk chaṛhānā, To be angry or displeased. ناک رکهنا nāk rakhnā, To preserve oneʼs ho- nour. ناک سکوڙنا nāk sakoṛnā, To turn up oneʼs nose, to be displeased. ناک کا بال nāk kā bāl, adj. (dakh. met.) Respected, honoured: see عزيز aﻌzīz. ناک کٿانا nāk kaṭānā, To dis- honour. ناک کٿي هوني nāk kaṭī honī, To lose oneʼs honour.

نوني non-ī S̱. s. f. Efflorescence of salt on a wall.

نواز nawāz P part. act. (from نواختن) in compos. Cherishing, cherisher, caressing, soothing, playing on musick; a musician, player on musick. ¶ nawāz, s. m. See نوازش nawāzish.

نکهريکهـ nakh-rekh नखरेखा S̱. s. f. The marks left by the nails, a scratch.

نوروزي nauroz-ī P adj. Relating to new yearʼs day.

نکر nakir A (from نکر Heb. and Aram. ) adj. 1. Sagacious, penetrating, ingenious. 2. Igno- rant.

نوايب nawāʼịb A s. plur. (of نايبة) Accidents, unfortunate occurrences.
