نشست nishast P (from نشستن) s. f. Sitting. نشست برخاست nishast-barḵẖāst, s. f. Man- ners, good breeding, etiquette, politeness. نشست گاه nishast-gāh, s. f. A place where people meet to sit and talk, sitting-room.

نگاه nigāh P s. f. 1. A look, glance, sight, view, the aspect. 2. Observation, watching. 3. Cus- tody, care. نگاه رکهنا nigāh rakhnā, To take care, to lay by, to guard. نگاه کرنا nigāh kar- nā, To observe, look, regard, view, oversee.

نوچي nauchī H s. f. Young girl kept by a bawd.

نفي nafī A s. m. 1. Forbidding, prohibition. 2. Rejecting, refusing. 3. Negation. 4. Re- fuse, filth, refusal, annihilation, nonexistence.

نزديکي nazdīk-ī P 1. s. f. Propinquity, nearness, proximity, approximation, approach, vicinity. 2. One near (in blood), a relative.

نيارا nyārā निरालय S̱. 1. adj. Apart, aloof, separate, distinct, different, extraordinary, un- common. 2. s. m. The scoria left after refining gold, silver, or other metals, from which a minute portion of those metals is obtainable. نياري nyāre, adv. Apart.

نہلانا nahlānā S̱. (caus. of نہانا q. v.) v. a. To cause to bathe.

نکاح nikāḥ A s. m. Matrimony, marriage. (It is the most honourable kind of marriage, though in Bengal the term be only applicable to a se- condary kind). A. P. نکاحي nikāḥ-ī, adj. Married (woman).

نکـﮩت nakʼhat A (from نکه) s. f. Perfume, odour, any thing odoriferous.

نتنب नितंब nitamb S s. m. The buttocks, posteriors of a woman.
