ناموس nāmūs A (from نمس) s. f. m. 1. Reputa- tion, fame, renown. 2. Disgrace. 3. The fe- male part of a family. ناموس اکبر nāmūs-i-akbar, The angel Gabriel.

نرگستان nargistān P (perhaps for نرگسدان A re- ceptacle for narcissuses) s. m. A bed of Nar- cissuses.

نساٴي nisāʼī A adj. Of women.

نہاس nihās S̱. adj. (dakh.) See نراس nirās.

ناب nāb H s. (dakh.) Cornice, flutings (of a pillar), frieze, groove (Harris).

نونا naunā नमन S̱. v. n. 1. To bend down, to bow, to incline downwards. 2. To submit, to be obedient, to stoop.

نين neṅ S̱. a particle, see s̱. ني ne. ¶ naiṅ (dakh.) Not: see نہين nahīṅ.

نارنج nāranj P (Sans. नारंग) s. m. An orange.

نوچهاور nauchhāwar H s. m. A propitiatory of- fering, sacrifice, victim. See نچهاور nichhāwar.

نيمه nīma P s. m. A garment like a jāma, but not so full at the breast, or with less cloth in the skirt. نيمه آستين nīma-āstīn, Half-sleeved, a particular kind of jacket. (It reaches to below the knee, is single-breasted, and fastened above by one button in the centre of the chest: it has short sleeves. Qanoon-e-islam). نيمه شام nīma-shām, Evening.
