مينڐهل menḍhal H s. A fruit (Guilandina bon- duccella: Lin.) so called, filled with composi- tion (as a firework); when lighted it is thrown amidst the crowd. It bursts with an explosion. (Qanoon-e-islam).

مضور muẓūr A s. The becoming acid and spoiled of milk, wine, &c. so as to bite the tongue with its acidity.

مقلوب maḳlūb A (part. pass. of قلب) adj. Turned, inverted, converted. مقلوب مستوي maḳlūb-mustavī, A word or sentence which may be read backward or forward as درد dard (or in English madam), a palindrome.

مالک mālik A (part. act. of ملک Heb. ) s. m. Master, lord, possessor, proprietor, owner. (Pers. plur. مالکان). مالک الحزن māliku-l-ḥazin or مالک الحزين māliku-l-ḥazīn, Name of an aquatick bird. A. P. مالکانه mālik-āna, adj. Like an owner. adv. In the manner of an owner. s. m. An annual or monthly allowance paid to a zamīn-dār, by the person who occupies his lands, whether the state or a jāgīr-dār.

ميزبان mez-bān P s. m. An entertainer, host.

مچهندر machhandar मत्स्येन्द्र S̱. n. prop. Name of a Jogī.

مرچها murchhā S s. f. See مورچها mūrchhā. مرچها جانا murchhā jānā, To swoon, to faint.

مرغول marg̠ẖūl P s. m. 1. Locks, twisted or plaited. 2. Quavering (in singing), warbling, singing. P. H. مرغولنا marg̠ẖol-nā, v. n. (dakh.) To sing, warble, quaver, talk (birds): see چہچہانا chah- chahānā. P. H. مرغولي marg̠ẖol-ī, s. f. (dakh.) Warbling, singing, quavering, talk (of birds).

مرجي murjī A (part. act. IV. of رجأ) 1. adj. One who delays doing what he promises. 2. One of the sect called مرجيت who procrastinate, or think good works unnecessary and faith suf- ficient. 3. s. m. Name of a tribe.

مين meṅ S̱. (Sans. मध्ये) postpos. In, among, between, at. مين سي meṅ se, From within, out of. ¶ maiṅ (and, rarely, meṅ. Sans. अहं, मे &c.) pron. I. مين پنا main-panā, s. m. (dakh.) Egotism, arrogance. مين خوش ميرا خدا خوش maiṅ ḵẖụsh merā ḵẖudā ḵẖụsh, is used to express high satisfaction with any cir- cumstance or proposition. گر ناخوشي سي ميري هوتاهي جي تراخوش جس مين تري خوشي هو مين خوش مرا خدا خوش Gar nā-ḵẖụshī se merī hotā hai jī tirā ḵẖụsh; jis meṅ tirī ḵẖụshī ho maiṅ ḵẖu̇sh mirā ḵẖudā ḵẖụsh. If you are pleased with that which gives me pain; I am delighted and my God is pleased with whatever affords gratification to you.
