موهب mauhib A (from وهب Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. A present, a gift.

ماولي mā-olī S̱. s. f. (dakh.) Mother: see مان māṅ.

مـﮩنگي mahang-ī महार्घी S̱. s. f. A dearth, scarcity, famine. adj. f. (महार्घ) Dear.

مينڐک menḍak S̱. s. m. (मंडूक) A frog; the rump of a horse. مينڐکي کو زکام هونا menḍkī ko zukām honā (lit. A frog having caught cold) expresses pride or consequential airs assumed by worthless persons.

منکهہ manukh S̱. (मानुष or मनुष्य) s. m. A man, man, mankind. H. S. منکيان کا هار mankiyāṅ kā hār (dakh.) A necklace of pearls, large gold beads, corals, garnets, &c. (Qanoon-e-islam). S̱. H. منگا بهيجنا mangā bhejnā, To send for.

مقسوم maḳsūm A (part. pass. of قسم) adj. Distri- buted, allotted, divided; s. m. Portion, lot.

مالک mālik A (part. act. of ملک Heb. ) s. m. Master, lord, possessor, proprietor, owner. (Pers. plur. مالکان). مالک الحزن māliku-l-ḥazin or مالک الحزين māliku-l-ḥazīn, Name of an aquatick bird. A. P. مالکانه mālik-āna, adj. Like an owner. adv. In the manner of an owner. s. m. An annual or monthly allowance paid to a zamīn-dār, by the person who occupies his lands, whether the state or a jāgīr-dār.

ماهي māhī P s. f. A fish; the fish on which the earth is supposed to rest. ماهي توه māhī-tawa, s. m. A fryingpan. ماهي خوار māhī-ḵẖẉār, s. m. A heron, cormorant. ماهي دندان māhī- dandān, A fishʼs tooth, of which the hilts of swords, &c. are made. ماهي فروش māhī-farosh, s. m. A fish-man, or -monger. ماهي گير māhī- gīr, s. m. 1. A fisherman. 2. An otter. (Lutra lutreola: Shaw). ماهي مراتب māhī-marātib, s. m. Certain honours, of which the privilege is especially conferred on princes and great nobles. They are denoted by the figure of a fish, with other insignia (two balls), carried as ensigns upon elephants.

موجه muwajjah A (part. pass. II. of وجه) adj. Agreeable, acceptable.

مانند mānand P (or mānind) s. f. m. Like, resem- bling, resemblance.
