متهن मिथुन mithun S s. m. 1. The constella- tion Gemini. 2. A pair. (Hence, the Bengalese represented the constellation by a man and woman).

متعين mutaʼaﻌiyin A (part. act. V. from عين Heb. and Chald. ) adj. Appointed, fixed, consti- tuted, deputed, determined; s. m. Deputy, agent. متعين کرنا mutaʼaﻌiyin karna, To appoint, depute, &c.

مسلت masʼalat A s. f. See مسله masla.

مقام maḳām A or muḳām (noun of place of قوم Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. 1. Dwelling, man- sion, station, place, abode, a place of residence or encamping, residence. 2. Halting of an army. (Plur. مقامات).

مرفا marfā P. s. m. A kind of drum (beat at both ends), or like a ḍhol, covered at both ends with leather, but played on at one end only with a stick: see Qanoon-e-islam.

مدري mudrī S̱. s. f. (dakh.) See مندري mundrī.

منکهہ manukh S̱. (मानुष or मनुष्य) s. m. A man, man, mankind. H. S. منکيان کا هار mankiyāṅ kā hār (dakh.) A necklace of pearls, large gold beads, corals, garnets, &c. (Qanoon-e-islam). S̱. H. منگا بهيجنا mangā bhejnā, To send for.

مشاتمت mushātamat A (inf. III. of شتم) s. f. Reproaching, abusing, reviling.

مداحي maddāḥ-ī A. s. f. Praising, extolling, pa- negyrick.

مقامي muḳām-ī A. adj. Residing, resident.
