مصلا muṣallā A (part. pass. II. from صلي Chald. ) s. m. A carpet to pray on, a place of prayer.

معروف maﻌrūf A (part. pass. of عرف) adj. 1. Known, notorious, noted, celebrated. 2. Active (voice of a verb). 3. The letters و and ي are said to be maﻌrūf, when the former has the sound of ū and the latter of ī; as in نور nūr, Splendour, and لڙکي laṛkī, A girl.

ميران mīr-ān P. s. m. A portion paid to the head of a department out of the fees received by the inferiour officers.

معين muʼaﻌiyan A (part. pass. II. of عين Heb. ) adj. Established, fixed, ascertained, appointed, certified. معين کرنا muʼaﻌiyan karnā, To fix, establish, appoint, ascertain, constitute. (Fem. معينه). ¶ muʼīﻌn (part. act. IV. of عون Heb. ) An assistant.

مـﮩمله muhmala A fem. (part. pass. IV. of همل) adj. 1. Obsolete, not in use, without meaning (a word, &c.). 2. Without points (a letter). 3. A buffoon. Plur. مـﮩملات muhmalāt, Absurdities.

مظلمه maz̤lama A (from ظلم) s. m. Injustice, op- pression, tyranny.

مجرد mujarrad A (part. pass. II. of جرد Heb. and Chald. ) adj. Solitary, alone, only; un- married, immaterial, incorporeal. Plur. مجردات mujarradāt, Incorporeal beings.
