مشروع mashrūﻌ A (part. pass. of شرع Heb. ) 1. adj. Initiated, begun, commenced. 2. Le- gal, just, prescribed by law. 3. s. m. A kind of cloth made of silk and cotton mixed (dressed in which it is lawful for Musalmāns to pray: that not being allowed in cloth entirely of silk).

The name of the first Mu- hammadan month, held sacred on account of the death of Ḥusain, son of Aﻌlī, who was killed by Yazīd, near Kūfa.
