لاج lāj लज्जा S̱. s. f. Bashfulness, modesty, shame.

لـﮩلوٿ lahloṭ S̱. adj. Borrowing and never paying.

لاڐلا lāḍlā लाडनीय S̱. adj. See لاڙلا lāṛlā.

لب lab P s. m. f. 1. Lip. لب بستگي lab-basta- gī, s. f. State of having the lips closed. لب خا lab-ḵẖā, adj. Fastidious, fretful. (substan- tively) A prig. لب ولـﮩجه lab-o-lahja, s. m. Conversation. 2. Brim, edge, verge, margin, shore, bank, brow (of a hill), coast. لبريز lab-rez, adj. Brimful, overflowing. لبريزي lab- rez-ī, s. f. Overflowing, abundance. لبين ليني labeṅ lenī, To shave or prune the beard of the upper lip.

لوٿانا lauṭānā H (causal of لوٿنا lauṭnā) v. a. 1. To turn over, to invert. 2. To turn back, to return, to give back, to reject. S̱. H. لوٿ پوٿ loṭ-poṭ, adj. 1. Wallowing, tum- bling and tossing, rolling about, restless. لوٿ پوٿ هونا loṭ-poṭ honā, To be in love.

لپ لپ lup-lup H s. m. Lapping (as, of a dog drinking). ¶ lap-lap, adj. Nimble, quick. لپ لپ کهانا lap-lap khānā, To eat quickly. S̱. لپنا lipnā (r. लिप Plaster, besmear) v. n. To be plastered, smeared or washed over.

لپوانا lipwānā S̱. (causal of ليپنا) v. a. To cause to plaster, smear, or wash over.

لنگوٿا langoṭā P. s. m. See لنگوٿي langoṭī. لنگوٿ بند langoṭ-band, 1. A bandage to which the langoṭ is fastened. 2. One devoted to ce- libacy.

لسنا lasnā S̱. (r. लस Embrace, adhere: be skil- ful: shine) v. n. 1. To become, to befit. 2. To shine. Bihārī says:-- سکهي سوهت گوپال کي ار گنجن کي مال باهرلست هيي منودابانل کي جوال Sakhī sohat gopāl ke ur gunjan kī māl; bāhar lasat hiye mano dābānal kī jwāl.
