لچهمي लक्ष्मी lachh̤mī S (or laksh̤mī) s. f. 1. The wife of Vish̤ṇu, and goddess of wealth and prosperity. (She is also called Padmā, Ka- malā and Srī, and is supposed to be the Ceres of the Latins). 2. Prosperity, wealth. 3. Beauty, splendour.

لغز lug̠ẖz A (or lug̠ẖaz, from لغز lag̠ẖaza, To distort, Heb. A barbarian, one who uses a foreign or unknown tongue) s. m. Any ambi- guous phrase, an enigma, a riddle.

لکهوانا likhwānā S̱. (caus. of لکهنا) v. a. To cause to write.

لاف lāf P s. f. Boasting, brag, vanity, self-praise. لاف زن lāf-zan, A boaster, bragger, blusterer. لاف زني lāf-zan-ī, s. f. Boasting. لاف گزاف lāf guzāf, s. m. Boasting, bluster. لاف مارني lāf mārnī, To boast, to bluster.

لوکنا lauknā S̱. (r. लोक Shine) v. n. To shine, to glitter, to lighten, to flash.

ليد līd H s. f. The dung of horses or elephants.

لٿوانا luṭwānā S̱. (caus. of لوٿنا) v. a. To cause to be plundered.

لمبي lambī S̱. (see لمبا) adj. f. 1. Long, tall. 2. A kind of bounding pace in a horse. لمبي سانس بهرني lambī sāṅs bharnī, To regret, to la- ment. لمبي کرنا lambī karnā, To make a horse capriole, or throw out his fore legs.

لکهاو lakhāʼū S̱. (Sans. लक्षण r. लक्ष See, mark) adj. Significant. ¶ lakhāʼo, s. m. Act of seeing or perceiving.
