لڙهيا luṛhiyā S̱. s. f. See لوڙها loṛhā.

لال lāl S̱. 1. (r. लल Wish for, or लड Sport) adj. Darling, dear; s. m. An infant boy, a son. 2. (लाला) s. m. Spittle, saliva. 3. s. m. The name of a bird. (The male of Frin- gilla amandava). لال بجهکڙ lāl bujhakkaṛ, An intelligent person; one who comprehends quickly, or who readily divines what has happened or is to happen from certain symptoms; but, the term is generally used ironically for a wise- acre, an ignorant foolish person who pretends to more sense than his neighbours; as, in the following answer given by a person of this de- scription, when consulted respecting the marks of an elephantʼs feet in mire, by people who had never seen such an animal: يـﮩ توبوجهي لال بجهکڙ اورنه بوجهي کوي پاين چکي باندهکرمت هرنا کوداهوي Yih to būjhe lāl bujhakkaṛ aur na būjhe koʼe; pāyan chakkī bāndhkar mat harnā kūdā hoʼe. Lāl Bujhakkaṛ and none else can understand this; may not an antelope with a millstone tied to his feet have bounded here?

لڙويا laṛ-waiyā S̱. adj. Very fighting, fond of fighting, warlike; s. m. A fighter, warriour.

لٿکنا laṭaknā H v. n. To hang, to dangle.

ليچي līchī CHIN. s. f. Name of a fruit. (Scytalia litchi: Roxb.).

لک دني lak-dane H adv. (dakh.) Instantly, imme- diately.

لونار lon-ār S̱. s. m. 1. Salt lands. 2. A place where salt is produced, a salt-pit.

للکارنا lalkārnā H v. a. To call, to bawl after, to halloo after, to challenge, to set up the war whoop. v. n. To bawl out insultingly.

لوا liwā A (from لوي) s. m. A standard, a banner.

لخت laḵẖt P s. m. A piece, bit, part, portion, some, a little, somewhat. لخت جگر laḵẖt-i-jigar, A piece of oneʼs liver (generally applied to a child); darling.
