آگه āgah P adj. See آگاه āgāh.

ايل īyal A or aiyal, or uyyal (Heb. ) s. m. A stag, a mountain goat.

آشمال āsh-māl P adj. Pottage or porridge rub- ber (perhaps one who lives by rubbing of pot- tage from vessels).

آتش خوار ātash-ḵẖẉār P (Fire eater) s. m. Name of a bird, a variety of Tetrao rufus, Lin: called in Hindī چکور chakor, q. v.

اسپند ispand P s. m. A seed burnt at marriages to drive away evil spirits: it is, also, burnt as a charm for the like purpose some days after a child is born, particularly at the door; and when a child goes out or comes home. It is often mixed on those occasions with mustard seed, and hence has been confounded with the latter (خردل).

استطاعت istit̤āaﻌt A (inf. x. of طوع) s. f. 1. Power, possibility. 2. Submitting to, dependence.

انباري ambārī A. (Arab. عماري) s. f. A litter (used on an elephant or camel). انباري دار ambārī-dār, Having or bearing a litter.

اپنیه अ and पुण्य Virtuous action, merit, cha- rity a-puṇya S. s. m. Uncharitableness.

اٿبات is̤bāt A (inf. iv. of ٿبت Heb. To be fixed) s. Confirmation, proof, affirmation, as- certainment, certain knowledge. (The gender of this word in Hindī depends on that of the ob- ject; as, اٿبات مدعيٰ کیا is̤bāt-i-muddaāﻌ kiyā, اٿبات تقریرکي is̤bāt-i-taḳrīr kī): (Hunter).
