اترنا utarnā S̱. (उत्तरण from उत् and r. तृ Cross over) v. n. To descend, to alight, to halt, bait, disembark, land, dismount, to subside, to de- crease, to pass over, to cross, to go off, to fall off, to decay, to fade, to flag, to be freed from debt, to become insipid, to flatten, to fall in value or in dignity.

اپک a-pak S̱. (अ and पक्वः Ripe) adj. Unripe.

اپدیس उपदेश upa-des S s. m. Advice, counsel, exhortation, admonition, instruction.

استغفرال‍له astag̠ẖfiru-llāh A I entreat forgiveness of. God. (An expression signifying negation, God forbid!).

امام imām A s. m. 1. A leader in religious af- fairs, a prelate, patriarch, priest, chief. 2. A large bead in a rosary, which remains fixed in the hand and is not turned over in counting (called by the Hindūs sumeru).

الفي alfī A 1. s. f. See الفا alfā. 2. adj. Co- vered with marks like the letter alif (cloth, &c.).

اکوار akwār S̱. s. See انکوار ank-wār.

آزادي āzād-ī P s. f. Freedom, independence, release, manumission, conduct, life or practice of an آزاد āzād or hermit.

ادشکر adh-kar अर्द्धकर S̱. s. m. Half the tax or duty of any kind (the other half being remit- ted).

آفرین āfrīn P or āfarīn, s. f. Praise, applause, acclamation. ¶ interject. Bravo! well done!
