فرض farẓ A s. m. f. Divine command, a duty the omission of which is considered as a mortal sin, an obligation. فرض کرنا farẓ karnā, To consider as a positive indispensable duty, to consider as certain or unquestionable, to grant, admit, assume. فرض هونا farẓ honā, To be in- cumbent, to behoove.

فعله faʼaﻌla A s. m. 1. Deed, action. 2. (plur. of فاعل) Agents. ¶ fiﻌla, See فعل fiﻌl.

فوقاني fauḳānī A adj. Superiour, upper.

فرايض farāʼịẓ A s. plur. (of فريضه from فرض To cut, Heb. To divide, to break) The know- ledge of dividing inheritances agreeably to law.

فاتحه fātiḥa A (from فتح) 1. s. m. Commence- ment, exordium. 2. s. f. The first chapter or سوره of the ḳurʼān, which being repeated when praying for the souls of the dead, the word comes to mean prayers offered up in the name of saints, &c. and vulgarly oblations made to saints, &c.

فقر faḳr A s. m. Poverty, the practice of a faḳīr or dervis.

فرعوني firʼaﻌun-ī A. s. f. Haughtiness, arrogance.

فتنه fitna A (from فتن To try to tempt) s. m. 1. Calamity, mischief. 2. Sedition, mutiny. 3. Perfidy. 4. Sin, evil, pest. 5. Temptation, seduction. فتنه انگيز fitna-angez, A fomenter of disturbances, an incendiary, a mischiefmaker, seditious, turbulent, insurgent, &c. فتنه انگيزي fitna-angez-ī, s. f. Causing disturbances, sedi- tiousness, mischievousness, &c. فتنه جو fitna- jo, Quarrelsome, seditious. فتنه ساز fitna-sāz, Mischiefmaking, mischiefmaker. فتنه سازي fitna-sāz-ī, s. f. The occasioning of disturbance or trouble. فتنه گر fitna-gar, A seditious per- son, a mischiefmaker.

فرومانده faro-mānda P (comp. of فرو Low, under, and part. pass. of ماندن To live, to remain) adj. Dejected, tired, depressed, fatigued, weary, weak, helpless.

فساد fasād A (from فسد) s. m. Depravity, ini- quity, wickedness, mischief, violence, war, hor- rour, mutiny, sedition, rebellion.
