صورت ṣūrat A (from ii. of صار Heb. and Aram. To form, to fashion) s. f. 1. Form, figure, shape, face, countenance, fashion, appearance, probability, portrait. 2. Manner. 3. Condi- tion, state, case, circumstance. درصورت dar ṣūrat, or درصورتيکه dar-ṣūrate-ki, In case, provided that. صورت آشنا ṣūrat-āshnā, An ac- quaintance. صورت آشناٴي ṣūrat-āshnā-ī, s. f. Acquaintance. صورت پذير ṣūrat-paẕīr, Assuming or receiving form. صورت پذيرهونا ṣūrat- paẕīr honā, To come to pass, to come into exis- tence. صورت حال ṣūrat-i-ḥāl, s. f. A state- ment, form or state of condition or case, written declaration. صورت حرام ṣūrat-ḥarām, Plau- sible, whose appearance promises much more than events will justify, specious, superficial, fair without and foul within. صورت گر ṣūrat- gar, Painter, sculptor, limner.

صراحت ṣarāḥat A (from صرح To be pure, ge- nuine) 1. s. f. Palpableness. 2. Pureness. 3. adj. Pure, unadulterated. صراحتا ṣarāḥataṉ, adv. Publickly, evidently.

صايب ṣāʼịb A (part. act. of صاب) adj. Right, going straight to the mark.

صباغ ṣabbāg̠ẖ A (part. act. of صبغ Heb. To stain or paint) s. m. A dier, one whose business is to die.

صفرا ṣafrā A s. f. Bile, gall, yellow.

صحراٴي ṣaḥrā-ī A adj. Of the desert, wild.

صبر ṣabr A s. f. Patience, endurance. صبرکرنا ṣabr karnā, To wait, to have patience, to endure. ¶ ṣabir, A species of aloes.

صياد ṣaiyād A (adj. superl. of صيد Heb. Hunting) s. m. A hunter, fowler, fisherman.

صبوح ṣabūḥ A s. Wine drunk in the morning, wine which may be for use in the morning.

صرفه ṣarfa A s. f. 1. Expense, expending. 2. Profusion, profit, utility, surplus, redundancy, addition. 3. The twelfth mansion of the moon, a star in the tail of Leo.
