شکر shukr A (Heb. To hire, to pay rent) s. m. Thanks- giving, gratitude, thanks, thankfulness. شکرنعمت shukr-i-niﻌmat, An acknowledgment of favour. ¶ shakr, s. f. 1. Vulva. 2. Coitus.

شايع shāʼịﻌ A part. act. (of شيع Heb. To exclaim) 1. Divulged, published, diffused, no- torious. 2. Distressed.

شرار sharār A (from شرر) s. m. A spark, or sparks of fire.

شفقي shafaḳ-ī A. adj. Like, or relating to the evening twilight.

شيرني shernī P. s. f. A lioness or tigress.

شومڙي shūmṛī H s. f. A kind of fried food. A.P. شومي shūm-ī, s. f. Avarice, niggardliness.

شناوري shinā-war-ī P s. f. Swimming.

شورش shorish P (from شوريدن) s. f. 1. Tumult, insurrection, confusion. 2. Brackishness, saltness.

شيرخشت shīrḵẖisht P s. A substance which rests like dew on certain trees and is used in medi- cine; manna.

شوال shauwāl A s. m. The tenth month of the Muhammadan year; on the first day of which the festival of Bairām, or īﻌd is celebrated, being the first day after the musalmān Lent; and, on this day it is customary to make presents, &c.
