شامت shāmat A s. f. 1. (from شؤم) Mischance, bad luck, adversity. 2. (from شام) A black spot or mole. ¶ shāmit (from شماتت) part. act. Laughing at anotherʼs misfortune.

شعاع shuʼāﻌﻌ A (from شعّ To radiate, be spread or diffused) s. f. Light, splendour, lustre, the rays of the sun, sunshine, radiance.

شکرين shakar-īn P adj. Sugary, of sugar.

شدت shiddat A (from شدّ Heb. To plunder, lay waste) s. f. 1. Violence, force, vehemence. 2. Adversity, affliction, difficulty.

شايع shāʼịﻌ A part. act. (of شيع Heb. To exclaim) 1. Divulged, published, diffused, no- torious. 2. Distressed.

شبگاه shab-gāh P s. f. 1. Night-place to keep any thing in. 2. Night-time.

شکست shikast P (from شکستن) 1. s. f. Breaking, fracture, deficiency, loss, defeat. 2. (for شکسته q. v.) adj. Broken, odd, uneven, unpaired. شکست خورده shikast-ḵẖụrda, adj. Broken off, interrupted, defeated.
