ساٴيس sāʼīs A (part. act. of ساس He ruled, go- verned; or, from Heb. A horse) s. m. A groom, a horse-keeper.

سٿيا saṭiyā S̱. (from यष्टि) s. f. A stick.

سيد saiyid A (verbal adj. from سود) s. m. 1. A lord, a prince. 2. A descendant of Ḥusain, who was the grandson of the prophet Muḥammad. سيد الانام saiyidu-l-anām (the prince of men and of all living creatures), سيد البشر saiyidu-l-bashar (the prince of mortals), سيد المرسلين يا انبيا saiyidu-l-mursalīn or -ambiyā (the head of the apostles, or prophets) are epithets of Muḥammad.
