اپرس aparas S̱. (अ and स्पर्श Touch) s. m. 1. The state of a Hindū after bathing, previous to worship or to eating, during which it is unlawful for him to touch any one. 2. (for the Arabic ابرص) Leprosy.

استخلاص istiḵẖlāṣ A (inf. x. of خلص Heb. Was free, separated) s. m. Seeking to liberate; liberation, liberty, freedom.

امتناع imtināﻌ A (inf. viii. of منع) s. m. Pro- hibition, restraint.

اپین अपीन a-pīn S adj. Light, lean.

آيت आयत āyat S adj. Long, wide.

اپویت उपवीत upa-vīt S s. m. The thread or cord worn by the three first classes of Hindūs over the left shoulder and under the right.

اشتعال ishtiʼāﻌl A (inf. viii. of شعله) s. m. f. In- flaming, burning, lighting a fire or candle; fo- menting or instigating a quarrel. A. P. اشتعالک ishtiʼāﻌlak (dimin. of اشتعال) s. f. A small flame; a quarrel. اشتعالک دینا ish- tiʼāﻌlak denā, v. a. To foment (quarrels), to encourage to bad actions, to abet.

اشتغال ishtig̠ẖāl A (inf. viii. of شغل) s. m. Oc- cupation, employment, study, business.
