سقر saḳar A (from سقر The sunʼs heat burning the face) s. m. Hell.

سہلاهٿ sahlāhaṭ H (from سہلانا) s. f. Gentle rub- bing, stroking, titillation.

سوخته soḵẖta P 1. part. pass. (of سوختن) Burnt, scorched. (Pers. plur. سوختگان soḵẖtagān). سوخته جان soḵẖta-jān or سوخته دل soḵẖta-dil, Inflamed in mind (with love or grief). 2. s. m. A slow match, tinder, a brand.

سلگ salag S̱. (perhaps, from संलग्न) s. (dakh.) Friendship, familiarity.

سنبل sumbul A s. m. A flower (especially of an odoriferous plant).

سدهانا sudhānā S̱. (from سدهہ sudh) v. a. To put in mind, to cause to remember. S. سدهانت सिद्धान्त (comp. of सिद्ध Accom- plished, and अंत End) siddhānt, s. m. 1. Result, consequence, truth established by de- monstration. 2. A system of science.

سليقه salīḳa A s. m. Nature, genius, taste, good disposition, method, knack, knowledge, dex- terity, address. سليقه شعار salīḳa-shiʼāﻌr, adj. Of good disposition. سليقه گفتگو salīḳa-e-guft- gū, s. m. Polite conversation. صاحب سليقه ṣāḥib-salīḳa, A man of taste. سليقه مجلس sa- līḳa-e-majlis, s. m. Good breeding.
