اپتیا a-patiyā S̱. (अ and प्रत्यय Trust, confidence) adj. Faithless, treacherous.

اترائي itrāʼī H f. adj. Affected, playful, wan- ton.

اوٿ oṭ S̱. (perhaps, from r. वट Surround) s. f. m. Protection, shade, shelter, screen, covering, concealment, partition. اوٿ کرنا oṭ karnā, To conceal, screen, &c. اوٿ هونا oṭ honā, To be concealed, &c.

اٿي aṭṭi H s. f. A hank or bundle of thread; a cant word for a turban.

ان پڙها an-paṛhā S̱. adj. Unread, illiterate, unin- formed.

ابلمب a-bilamb S̱. (अ and विलम्ब Delay) s. m. Quickness, diligence.

اندراین indrāyan इन्द्रवारुणी S̱. s. f. Colo- cynth, wild gourd (Cucumis colocynthis, a fruit of beautiful appearance but bitter taste); hence, a beautiful but worthless person is called اندراین کا پهل The fruit of indrāyan. S. اندربدهو इन्द्रवधू (इंद्र Indra, and वधू or बधू A woman) indra-badhū, s. f. 1. Name of an insect (a species of acarus of a scarlet colour and like velvet). 2. The wife of Indra.

انوار anwār A s. plur. (of نور) Lights, splendour.

ابداع ibdāﻌ A (inf. iv. of بدع Heb. and Ch. To cleave, investigate, invent) s. m. The production of something new, invention.

آشمال āsh-māl P adj. Pottage or porridge rub- ber (perhaps one who lives by rubbing of pot- tage from vessels).
