سمان समान samān S adj. Equal, adequate, similar, alike, akin. s. f. Equality, level, rank; as, توميري سمان کا نـہين tū merī samān kā nahīṅ, Thou art not my equal.

سوريه सूर्य्य sūrya S s. m. The sun. सूर्य्यग्रहण sūrya-grahaṇ, s. m. Eclipse of the sun. سوريبنسي sūrya-bansī (सूर्य्यवंशी) s. m. 1. Descendant of the sun. 2. Name of a tribe of Ksh̤atriyas who claim descent from the sun. سوريودي सूर्योदय sūryodaya, s. m. Sunrise.

سينگي sīngī शृंगी S̱. s. f. 1. Name of a kind of fish. (Silurus pungentissimus: Buch.). 2. (from शृंग) A cup for cupping. سينگي لگانا sīngī lagānā, To cup. 3. (from शृंग) A small horn (musical).

ساد sād श्रद्धा S̱. s. f. Wish, desire, inclination.

ساوک शावक sāwak S s. m. A child, the young of animals.

ست sat S 1. (सत्) adj. True, right, actual. 2. adv. Actually. 3. (for सत्त्व) s. m. Power, strength, essence, the principle of goodness, &c.: see under رجوگن rajo-guṇ. 4. Juice, sap. 5. (for सत्य) Virtue. 6. Truth. ستبادي sat- bādī (सत्यवादी) adj. Speaker of truth. ست جگ sat-jug (सत्ययुग) s. m. The first or golden age, comprising 1,728,000 years of mortals. ستکرم sat-karam, Virtuous action.

سوبهاو sūbhāw S̱. (सुभाव i. e. सु Good, and भाव Nature, disposition) s. m. Good disposition, good nature. adj. Well-disposed. See also سبهاو subhāw and سوبهاو sobhaw.

سانک sānk H s. f. A lump of a sweetmeat (par- ticularly, of جليبي jalebī).

سينکا sīnkā H s. m. A groove.

سانجهي sānjhī S̱. s. f. (संध्या) Images of cow-dung made by children in the month of Āsin, kr̤ish̤ṇa paksh̤, to represent idols.
