ساٴين sāʼīṅ स्वामी S̱. s. m. 1. Lord, master. 2. (met.) A faḳīr. 3. The deity. 4. An imi- tative sound, as of wind. P. S̱. سايه sāya (Sans. छाया) s. m. 1. Shadow, shade, shelter, protection. 2. An apparition, spectre. 3. A petticoat. سايه بان sāya-bān, See سايبان sāya-bān. سايه تلي آنا sāya tale ānā, To take protection or shelter. سايه کسيکا پڙنا sāya kisī kā paṛnā, To imitate the manner of another. سايه دار sāya-dār, 1. Shady. 2. A protector. سايه گستر sāya-gustar, Spreading a shade, shading; shader, favourer. سايه هونا کسي کو sāya honā kisī ko, A demon appearing to, or possessing any one.

سميٿنا sameṭnā H (caus. of سمٿنا simaṭnā, q. v.) v. a. 1. To collect together, amass. 2. To constringe, contract, compress, brace, to cause to shrivel or shrink.

سفره sufra P s. m. 1. A tablecloth, napkin. 2. The anus. سفره چين sufra-chīn, A remover or spreader of the tablecloth.

سرشٿ sarishṭ, sr̤ish̤ṭ S or sr̤ish̤ṭi (सृष्ट or सृष्टि) s. f. The creation, the world.

سيش سائي sesh̤-sāʼī शेषशायी S. s. m. The sleeper on the serpent Sesh̤ or Ananta, an epithet of Vish̤ṇu.

سنسي संशय sansai S s. m. Doubt, apprehen- sion, fear, anxiety.

ستهراو sathrāʼo H s. m. A heap of slain.

سندهيا संध्या sandhyā S s. f. 1. Twilight, either in the evening or morning. 2. A period of time, forenoon, afternoon or midday. 3. Religious abstraction, meditation, repetition of mantras, sipping water, &c. to be performed by the three first classes of Hindūs at particular and stated periods in the course of every day, especially at sunrise, sunset, and also, though less essentially, at noon.
